Am I Ready for Change?

That's the question I am running into. So we are into the 3rd trimester and Fé is doing great every day reminding Phil that she's there. Also, she's getting her workout on, punching and kicking Phil. So this question on change and am I ready? Well, it's not like I have a choice in the matter. I think it's really starting to hit home. First, was when Phil asked me to start moving around some of Ty's furniture and take down some of his old stuff. Second, was the whole car seat thing. I mean, we will have 2 car seats in the car. But most of all was when we decided to look into changing Ty's crib to the next bed stage, a day bed. Ty has one of those growing beds which go from a crib to a day bed to a full size.

He has done very well at bed time, and so we figure its time to start the next stage. Of course our main concern is when he wakes up sometimes in the middle of the night, he will now have to freedom to just get out of bed and free roam. Well, that's where the gate comes into play. We'll use that to help with the teaching process. You know what we have come to understand, it's that for young kids, routine is essential. So, that's what we will need to establish, a new, or rather adjusted routine.

The next couple of days, the room will under go some transformation. We are not in our home yet, but maybe we'll do a little more decorating. Incorporate some blue and pink color. Some jungle lady bug themes. I don't know, we'll come up with something. We'll make sure we take pictures.

Here comes change, ready or not. *smile*

Time For Some Change

So it is time we begin making some changes around here. Our little lady bug Fé will be here soon and we are going to need to make room for her. We had a family dream to be in a home before we had more children but we just didn't have time to get it all together. So we have to make the best of what we have and fit both Ty and Fè in one room.

I have been thinking about it all for a few weeks but wasn't planning on doing anything for a few weeks but Chris and I heard some great advice during out child birth class for second time parents last week. They suggest to not wait until the baby arrives to make changes. If your toddler doesn't like change they can associate the changes with the new baby and blame the baby. But if you change beforehand they don't connect the two things and it just seems that their new sibling just happens to fit in to the family as is. So we are looking into re-arranging the room and also bringing out the second car seat from this weekend. Sure it is early but I think it will be worth it.

We are also hoping to get a life like baby doll to hold and allow Ty to interact with to see how he reacts to it and the attention we give it. I really think Ty is a pretty strong and smart kid so I'm not too worried but you never know.

Hard hitting Ty

So, Ty is getting more and more coordinated and he's getting more and more fearless. This is his latest favorite thing to do. He would back up and run full speed and hit you with a stiff arm. He loves wrestling also. I'll try and get that on here.

Fe is almost here!!!!

Guess Who is Not in Bed?

Today I am amazing grateful and thankful for God's loving graces.

Last week Thursday we had our most recent prenatal check up. We are nearing the third trimester and so far things have been going pretty darn smooth. Physically and emotionally I am filled and happy. However, although things are going well, I am obligated to have them check out my cervical length. With Ty I was already put on bed rest because I was dilating so much at this point. They say a problem like that typically repeat itself with each pregnancy. I have been putting it off but felt that it was now a good time to finally have my midwife check how my cervix was going. And while it was pretty closed, only around .25 centimeters dilated, she felt I was around 50% effaced which isn't good. So she scheduled me to have an ultrasound done right away.

Well this afternoon was our appointment. Chris drove like a mad man to make it in time to see our little lady bug on screen and make sure everything was okay. During this ultrasound she was able to check on a few things that were not visible the last time. We were missing a full few of all four heart chambers as well as some facial features. After getting that stuff and some other fun pictures for us she confirmed that my cervixs was well in the safe range and I am not in fear of preterm labor any time soon.

So no bed rest for me any time soon.

Slacker

So Chris seemed to need to make a point to show much of a slacker I have been with making post to this blog. Poor baby Fe doesn't even have a belly shot up yet. I mean I didn't want to do the week by week thing because it would be a lot of repeat but yeah we have been really slacking. So over the next few days you will probably see a lot of catching up posts.

For now we are already into our 26 week which means next week we are in the third trimester. I know I have said it before but really time is just flying by. This pregnancy for me has been a true gem. Everything to date has gone so smooth and easy. I am right on target for my weight gain, my energy level is great and my belly is showing but not gigantic. She is moving around like the busy lady bug that she is. She is certainly more active and kicking harder then Ty did. I'm nervous and excited to see what her personality is going to be like.

We have another appointment tomorrow and we really need to find a recap birthing class and chose a Doula quick. We are so behind on some stuff but work has been so busy for the both of us. No more excuses.

To My Little Lady Bug

Dear Lil' Lady Bug,

In about 14 weeks, I will finally get to meet you. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but I am so ecstatic to meet you. I am already planning how I am going to protect you and how I am going to teach your brother to watch over you.

As your daddy, I feel an extra responsibility to take care of you. I promise to be the example of a Godly man to whom you can look to. I promise to be there to play tea party and dress up. I promise to not be too busy to carry you to go shopping. I promise you not to be too sleepy when you think there is a monster in your closet. I promise to be at all your games and functions. I promise to be that dad that all your friends wished they had.

All this to say, I can't wait to meet you. I am already so in love with you, my Lil' Lady Bug.

Love Daddy
