My Big Boy

Oh man, I am such a bad mommy blogger ... it has been so long since I have been here I almost forgot how to log in and make a new post.

Well, all things in Ty-Land are great. He is growing and developing well.

He is now talking up a storm ... well baby talk at least. We will laugh and coo at each other for like 20 minutes. He seems to have a ball and have so much to say.

He pretty much has full control of his neck muscles now. Which is awesome, he can now look around and see so much of his world.

He has quite gotten down reaching for items yet but once he gets something in his hand he has a good grip and it will probably end up in his mouth in a few seconds.

Speaking of his mouth, they haven't broken through yet but we can already see 2 little teeth under his gum. I still think we have a month or so but he is already chewing on them. Instead of sucking his pacifier he is mostly chewing on it and anything that goes in his mouth.

He's just 3 months now but I am starting to look into the right types of cereals to start feeding him in the next month or so.

But he is a pretty healthy boy. At 3 months and already weights around 15 pounds. Funny though you look at him and he doesn't look fat, he just looks big. Kind of like his dad. I would never call Chris fat, but he is muscly big ... big frame. I see Ty will probably have that same build.

He actually had another round of shots which I want to share with you here. I think he is starting to realize how much pain it can but, but I am sure before long he will suck it up just like his father and I. Both of us don't mind needles.

Tys First Shots

We are proud to say that yesterday little Ty passed his 1 month doctor visit with flying colors. Well to be honest we weren't worried at all but it was just so nice to hear the doctors reports. All his blood work and test came back and he is healthy and negative for all tested problems. He is growing at an awesome rate ... already 10 lbs 8 oz and 22 inches long (at birth he was 6 lbs 7 oz and 19 inches long). He is getting nice and chunky and has already out grown some clothes. Its nice to see clothes that used to just hang off of him now fit.
Another milestone at this appointment was that Ty received his first shot. And my little champ did amazing. Check it out for yourselves.

My Body Week 24

I can't believe that we have made it to six months already. It is amazing how time can fly sometimes. It is funny because I will complain at how slow time seems to be moving but I didn't expect to be this far along so fast. Time to start gearing up for the big day (4 months away). Now according to babycenter.com at 24 weeks Ty is the size of an ear of corn ... reading their site always makes me hungry.

As for me, things are awesome. Chris and I had a great time at our first parental visit with Dr. Alice at the Birthing Cottage. She is a really nice doctor and I am even more excited about the time we will spend there. Chris has a nice video of the heart beat that he will be putting up soon.

I haven't received the results of the Glucose test I took last week Thursday but I will be doing another one with the cottage at the end of the month anyway. As for now I am going to continue to walk for 30 minutes everyday and eat and pretty darn healthy diet.

Peace Out

My Body Week 23

Hey friends and family. Here is a quick entry to announce our 23rd week of pregnancy. Excited that things are continuing to progress and that we still have a healthy baby boy growing and kicking me all the time. What I think is adorable is that according to babycenter.com at week 23 our baby is about the weight of a large mango ... yummy!!!

As for me, I am still growing which isn't always a good thing. But I have started to make great steps toward improving my diet and exercises routine. So far it has been working, I feel great and started to not be as hungry and snacky anymore. The best thing for me right now is out of sight out of mind. If the snack food is in front of me, or someone else is eating it then I struggle. But if it isn't ever around, I am good.
My experience yesterday taking the early Glucose test didn't go all that bad. The wait was pretty short and the drink honestly wasn't that yucky at all. It was just really really sweet. They say we will have results in a week so until then I will continue to pray and do what I gotta do.
Other then that, I am doing pretty good. Happy that Chris is working and excited about our first visit at the Birthing Cottage on Monday. We will let you know how that goes.

I Won't Worry

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I found myself repeating that verse in my mind several times today. We had our 5 prenatal visit this morning and thankfully everything is well with Ty. He is just where he needs to be and growing just fine. I on the other hand seem to be growing way too much. My weight gain seems to be of concern to the doctor and she has requested that I have my gestational diabetes test done early to make sure it is just my over eating and nothing else. That is scheduled to happen on this Thursday. You can read about gestational diabetes and how the test is done here: http://www.babycenter.com/0_gestational-diabetes_2058.bc.

I am fighting not to be concerned and praying that it is my fatty self just eating too much. If it is gestational diabetes than that could mean that delivering at the birthing cottage will no longer be an option because I would be considered high risk, and Ty could grow too much and a c-section is possible. We have already started to make steps toward a more healthy diet for me and a regular exercise routine.

So I am looking for prayers and well wishes. Praying that the test on Thursday goes well, and that I can have the will power and determination to stick to this healthy eating plan and focus on exercising as much as my body needs. Thank you so much. Love you all.

My Body Week 20

WE MADE IT!!! The half way mark. Very exciting. To celebrate, Chris and I got that babies coming home clothes. And it is adorable.

It has been a while since our last post. We have two very special blog posts that we are working on. We are having some technical difficulties with the videos but I promise they will be worth the wait.

As for me, according to the babycenter.com and what they say about week 20, I am overweight. Okay okay, so it didn't say that, but it does say that the average weight gain by now is 10 pounds and I am a little over 20 pounds now. I already felt a little chunky, so reading it didn't help at all. :)
Other than that, I am doing pretty good. I am finding it challenging at times to get used to my changing body. Each week I find that I can't do yet something else that I used to. Right now, depending on where the baby is sitting it can be just a tad uncomfortable to lean forward and get up out of bed. And I am sure it will only get worse. I just hope I can continue to exercises and that will in turn make the growth easier on me also. We will see.
Peace Out

My Body Week 16

Time is moving by much faster now and it is great. I can't believe that 16 weeks is already here. Our next milestone that we are looking forward to is the 20 week mark. So much stuff will happen then. But there are still exciting and new stuff happening with us now.

Here is what the babycenter.com has to say about week 16. Baby is getting big.

As for me:

My belly is getting so much bigger now. I have noticed more and more now that my stomach is much bigger and you can certainly tell I am pregnant now. Along with that is the feel of the baby also. I am starting to feel the pressure or resistance when I am bending over or stretching now. It is amazing and uncomfortable at the same time. I like to feel the baby that way, just don't like the idea that I won't be able to easily bend and do stuff any more. But it is worth it.

I am starting to gain the right amount of weight now. Before I was pregnant (thankfully I used Wii Fit the day before I supposedly conceived so we know my real weight) I weighted in at 131. I am now at 141 and growing steadily. I am suppose to gain another 15-20 before my due date so hopefully I can progress like I have been so far. Good thing is though since I have been working out and keeping in shape we believe the weight is going where it needs to, right to the baby and I am staying fit.

Oh I am starting to feel what they call round ligament pain. ... It is a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting dull ache that pregnant women commonly feel in the lower abdomen or groin. The round ligaments surround your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause pain on one or both sides of your abdomen ... I started to have some of those pains at the start of my second trimester. It would just come as a pinch that would last only 2 seconds and would come ever so often for about 2-3 hours then stop. I wouldn't feel them again for a few days. But they would come as I moved around (sat down, stood up, twisted). I wouldn't even really call it pain, just a slight pinch. I had read somewhere once that it was just a sign the uterus was growing with the baby so I haven't worried about it at all.

Fun Stuff!!!

Well that is where we are today. Stick with us for more exciting developments with our baby boy/girl/monkey.

Peace Out,

Wii Fit & More

So when I am not at a doctors appointment or looking for a job what does this pregnant girl do .... I exercises.

I think I mentioned here that we brought out the Nintendo Wii Fit to help me stay in shape for the pregnancy right. Well it has been working ... and extra good too. I am on almost every day (5-6 days a week) and for at least 30 minutes each day sometimes up to an hour depending on my energy. It is awesome. The work outs include Yoga, Strength, Aerobics and Balance games. I really enjoy the balance games and try to do those often because I hear how unbalanced my tummy is going to make me in the months to come. I am convinced that if I start training myself from now it won't be so bad. There are a few workouts that I can't/won't do now with the baby ... but I know I will to help get my post baby body in shape.

Other then that, Chris and I have been going on walks in the afternoons and whenever I can I like to go swimming. The good thing is that I am still steadily gaining the weight that I need to for the baby so it is all still safe and not excessive. I am sure in the months to come I will have to slow down a little, but I hope not too much.

Peace Out,
Philippa Channer
